14 Januari 2022 - 11:45:09This research is a part of collaborative research which undertaken by the Asian Migrant Center (AMC) and its partners in the Mekong Migration Network, with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation. Along with Indonesia, the research is conducted in Burma, Cambodia, China, Lao P.D.R., Thailand, and Vietnam.
The objectives of this research are 1) to identify cross-border sexuality issues relevant to Southeast Asian countries, 2) to conduct comparative studies to explore the ways in which issues of those countries connect with other countries in the Southeast Asian region, 3) to map the cases and sexuality related issues in the Southeast Asian region, 4) to publish the results of the study in the Southeast Asian and Mekong sub regions, and 5) to build a network in Southeast Asia as a basis for policy makers to deal with the issues through an integrative network.
Especially to Indonesia, the emphasized is put into the matter of trafficking and sexual exploitation on Indonesian migrating labors to Malaysia. One of the research is held in Batam and West Kalimantan and successfully mapping the trafficking patrons on women and the sexual exploitation on the migrants.
