14 Januari 2022 - 11:45:09Various efforts, both nationally and internationally, have been carried out to minimize the high frequency of the incident of violence against women. Among them are the Declaration of the Abolishment of Violence against Women by the UN and in the national level, National Action Plan for the Abolishment of Violence against Women (RAN-PKTP). Unfortunately, so far, there is not yet any integrative action in handling the problem. This research is designed to search for a model of theoretical approach that could comprehend and explain the phenomenon of violence in a more humanistic and equitable way. Therefore, the research objectives can be formulated as follows: Firstly, to map the basic assumption understood by the state, the market, and the society in comprehending violence against women and to analyze the influence of the assumptions in law policy applied in handling violence cases. Secondly, to evaluate the aspects of government’s policy, market and society in conditioning violence against women. Thirdly, to formulate a model of theoretical approach with humanistic insight and justice in understanding and explaining violence against women. Based on temporary findings in Makassar and Medan, it is mentioned that the high intensity of the incidence of violence has never gained people’s awareness on this matter, which is a form of social pathology. This is caused by the bias in understanding this issue of violence against women.
