Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a form of organizational responsibility for the impact caused by the decisions and activities of a corporation on society and the environment, through a series of ethical and transparent measures to support the creation of sustainable development (ISO 2600). In line with the notion that CSR program is an effort to achieve sustainable development, ConocoPhillips believes that community development program (as a part of CSR program) being operated is a facet in the achievement of the development model. Therefore, ConocoPhillips is trying to realize the community development program by following the principles of sustainable development outcomes, such as the involvement of local communities to participate in the program realization and utilization of local potential. In order that the program can be done optimally, it was necessary to conduct social mapping to identify local issues and potential encountered in the community and influential stakeholders. The social mapping study was conducted by the Center to support the realization of the community development program. This study, data, information, and issues identified can be referenced in planning the community development program. As such, these programs address the need of the community and are able to attract community participation and sustainable outcomes. The study was carried out in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, where ConocoPhillips works.
