The phenomenon of children labors is a dilemmatic problem. On the one hand, children have the rights to grow and develop in accordance with their age. On the other hand, poverty has forced them to work to support their family life. In general, the purpose of this research is to find out the profile of child labor in many aspects. The research is conducted in the areas assisted by PLAN International in Ponorogo, East Java. The objectives of the research are as follows: firstly, to identify the demographic characteristics, the socio economic condition, and the children labor culture in the areas. Secondly, to find out the factors that forces the children to work as labors. Thirdly, the typology and work domain of the child labors. Fourthly, the process of children’s entering the labor sector and the impact on their life. The result of the research shows that the children in the research area are lack of education due to their low of access both economically and geographically. Working is one of children’s obligations to support their families although it means that they have to leave school or leave their villages to look for a job. One of PLAN programs in Ponorogo is to improve the quality of education in the assisted areas by providing the children with scholarships and education funds to the poor families. This program could possibly fail if it does not pay attention to other influencing factors, such as changing the parents mind set and awareness of the importance of education for their children’s better life quality.
