Handling of legal cases are essentially lacking emancipatory principles in protecting women because there is a gender bias in the Criminal Code (KUHP) and legal institutions, whether police, prosecutors, and judiciary. The fate of women victims of violence eventually becomes more difficult because in addition to having to deal with laws which are less pro-women, also received unfair treatment from law enforcement officials in handling the cases of Violence against Women (VAW). Evaluation of the legislation and increase gender awareness among law enforcement are urgently required. []
